Report: Roma joins chase for Benayoun
Sky Sports reports Italian soccer powerhouse looking to sign Liverpool's Israeli midfielder to replace Amantino Mancini, who left for Inter Milan
AS Roma has joined the chase for Liverpool's Israeli midfielder Yossi Benayoun, this after previous reports said Manchester City and West Ham were also looking to sign the 28-year-old Dimona native, according to Sky Sports.
According to the British website, reports have suggested Liverpool may be prepared to sacrifice Benayoun after manager Rafa Benitez "admitted he would have to sell before he can buy again this summer".
Sky Sports said Roma chief Luciano Spalletti is in the market for a new "attacking midfielder" after seeing Amantino Mancini leave for Inter Milan and he is thought to be an admirer of Benayoun.
"Should Roma follow up their interest with a firm move for the player, Liverpool could decide to cash-in on Benayoun to enable them to raise funds for the signing of Gareth Barry," Sky Sports said.
