An Israeli man who was attacked Sunday in Brisbane, Australia is fighting for his life after being severely beaten during an argument at a gas station. The Foreign Ministry reports that the Israeli man is unconscious and is connected to a respirator, though his condition is stable. The Brisbane police are investigating the incident.

A preliminary investigation showed that the Israeli man, who is living in Australia, was fueling his car. During the fueling, an argument started between him and another woman. When the Israeli returned to his car after paying, a man, believed to be the woman's partner, hit the Israeli man in the face.

According to the Brisbane Police Department, the Israeli man hit his head against the ground. He was evacuated in a coma-like state to Princess Alexandria hospital where his condition was classified as critical. The attacker and the woman fled the scene in a Jeep Cherokee. The attacker has been described by the police as an Aboriginal.

The event, caught by the gas station's security cameras, was shown on major Australian media outlets. The Israeli Foreign Ministry reported that the Israeli man's family was notified and is on its way from Israel to Australia.
