Harasser of female MKs exposed

Police uncover identity of man suspected of sending harassing letters to various female MKs containing sexual innuendo, threats of rape

A load was lifted from the hearts of various female Knesset Members on Wednesday when they received a letter sent by Knesset Security Officer Yitzhak Shadar, in which he stated that he had exposed the identity of the man suspected of harassing them by mail a few months ago.

Ynet has discovered the contents of Shadar's letter, which said, "For a long while a serial harasser would send strange and varying letters of harassment to a number of female MKs, including yourself. Israel Police has recently exposed the identity of the harasser, a 50-year old unmarried resident of central Israel.

"The suspect has confessed to writing the harassing letters. He was exposed through the professional, responsible, and creative work of the police, and the detectives that uncovered his identity are worthy of commendation. Thus I hope this affair has been terminated."

The matter was brought to light two months ago, when a number of female MKs complained of receiving the mail.

One of the letters, which reached Ynet said, "Greetings, I would like to sleep with you, good day." Another letter said, "Greetings! I have a suspicion that you are about to fall victim to rape and murder, however I have nothing to do with it."
