Germany's interior minister backed plans to set up a memorial center to Germans relocated from eastern Europe after World War II, saying it could help shed light on a lesser-known moment in history.
The proposed ''Center against Expulsions'' would be established in Berlin ''to adequately recognize our German history,'' Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said. After the Third Reich collapsed in 1945 and borders were moved westward, millions of ethnic Germans in Poland, then-Czechoslovakia and elsewhere were viewed as traitors and were expelled or fled. (AP)
