Apartheid not the answer

Calls for harsh measures against east Jerusalem Arabs recipe for apartheid

Radio shows are constantly featuring distinguished and impassioned listeners who cry out, and fail to understand, how it could be that our intelligence establishment was unaware of the intention to carry out the terror attack in Jerusalem Monday night.

These listeners fail to understand why this attack was not prevented and provide their views on what we should be doing now in response: Raze the terrorist’s home, expel his relatives, etc. etc.

Those who want to raze and expel are often the same people, or the same kind of people, who were excited ages ago over the prospect of bringing these Palestinians into the State of Israel and granting them Israeli ID cards. So why are they complaining now? We wanted them to be like us? Well, they have the same rights as us now.

Any other foolish idea would lead us to apartheid. Once upon a time, there was a country like that in the world. Moreover, the world proceeded to show that country who’s the boss, and today there is no longer such country.

Hopefully, those who are calling the radio stations would get the hint – although, quite frankly, there’s no chance of that happening.

And another thing: I have some news for those who are convinced that our Jewish mind will come up with some brilliant solution that causes every Arab car that intends to run over Jews to explode a moment before that: After using cars, terrorists will come up with all sorts of alternative methods.

This is the way terrorism works and this is the weapon of choice used by the weak side; there is nothing we can do about it.
