Israelis who made it in Hollywood last year

Instead of sitting at home and mocking those who have been working hard and trying their luck abroad, we've decided to salute them in honor of the Jewish New Year

In honor of the Jewish New Year, Israel's leading women's weekly Laisha salutes those Israelis who managed to conquer the silver screen over the past year.

Ayelet Zurer

Ayelet Zurer's breakthrough began in 2005 when she was cast in Steven Speilberg's "Munich". This year she starred in the thriller "Vantage Point" alongside Dennis Quaid and Sigourney Weaver.

The Independent Film Critics Association recently crowned her as one of Hollywood's most beautiful women, and ranked her ninth – after Natalie Portman and Keira Nightly and way before Scarlett Johansson and Nicole Kidman. Respect.

Gal Gadot

This was, undoubtedly, Gal Gadot's year. It began with her photos in Maxim, the international men's magazine, continued with a perfume campaign for designer Perry Elis, and concluded with a lead role in "Fast & Furious" alongside Vin Diesel.

The film was shot in Los Angeles and Mexico, and Gadot was treated as a star – which is, in fact, what she is.

Another young woman who made it big time this year was Chen Shiloni, who landed a lead role in the British film "Unstoppable" directed by Martin Campbell ("Casino Royale", "The Mask of Zorro", "Golden Eye").

Shiloni stars in the film alongside Ben Rubin and David Powell. The movie was shot in Portugal and Spain for three weeks. Shiloni's next big plan is to study stage management and acting.

Ido Mosseri

Mosseri has gone a long way since the "Inyan Shel Zman" (matter of time) TV series until starring in a significant role in Adam Sandler's 2008 film "You Don’t Mess with the Zohan". Mosseri also gained some new friends: Sandler and actor Rob Schneider. Will this continue? Time (and only time) will tell.
