Strong earthquake shakes central Indonesia

Officials say a strong earthquake sent panicked residents fleeing from their homes in central Indonesia, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The US Geological Survey says the quake Monday had a preliminary magnitude of 6.0 and struck 65 miles (105 kilometers) beneath the sea. It was centered 90 miles (145 kilometers) northeast of Palu, a coastal town on Sulawesi island. (AP)
