The United Jewish Communities has designated the Association of Americans and Canadians in Israel
(AACI) the host community for the upcoming General Assembly (GA) in Israel on November 16-19.
AACI, the leading immigrant organization for English speakers in Israel since 1951, recruited 250 North American olim to volunteer at this year's General Assembly.
“We are excited to be the host community and a sponsor for this year’s GA,” announced AACI National Vice President for Development Sarah Weinstein. “AACI advances the best of North America in Israel and our 250 volunteers epitomize this. Hailing from Kibbutz Gal-On in the south to Metula in the north, ranging from 18 to 84, they capture AACI’s passion for building bridges with our North American brethren.”
AACI is a voluntary, inclusive Zionist organization founded to aid North American immigrants to acclimate to Israeli society and to build strong ties between North American Jewish communities and Israel.
As Israel’s most comprehensive English-language resource and cultural center, it offers a wide array of support services and programs nationwide, reaching Israel’s 300,000 English-speakers. Beyond facilitating absorption, AACI has led national quality of life initiatives, from the successful campaign to ban smoking in public places to promoting immigrant-friendly tax reform.
“UJC is pleased and proud to be partnering with AACI as our host community for this year’s GA in Israel,” said UJC Senior Vice President and Director General of UJC Israel, Nachman Shai.
“It’s a natural! AACI has been the leading immigrant organization for English speakers in Israel since 1951. Kudos to AACI for recruiting hundreds of volunteers to welcome our North American guests and help us make this year’s GA an outstanding success.”
