Bollywood singer cancels Israel show due to attacks
Mumbai terror attacks force Israeli Consulate in India to shut down, leaving singer Shaan without visa that would allow him to keep Saturday performance date
The terror attacks in India on Thursday have also led to the cancelation of a performance by Bollywood star Shaan in Israel scheduled for this weekend.
Shaan had planned to arrive in Israel Thursday evening in preparation for his performance Saturday, to which 3,000 tickets had already been sold.
Ynet learned that Shaan's visa had been prepared Thursday morning, but due to the emergency situation that took hold of the country the Israeli Consulate was shut down, and the Bollywood singer and his 13 crew members remained without passports and visas.
Arnon Paz, the company responsible for the performance in Israel, stated that "since the situation in Mumbai is not under our control, we have no choice but to postpone the performance at this stage. Notice of a new date will be released in the coming days. Ticket holders will receive a refund."
Shaan, 35, is a pop legend in his country and in 2000 received the MTV Asia award for Best Solo Album. Over the following years he proceeded to receive numerous Indian musical awards for his six solo albums.
The famous singer is also an actor whose presence has been noted on the big screen as well as the small. He has previously hosted the Indian version of 'American Idol', and has taken part in a number of Bollywood movies.
