7 soldiers wounded in Gaza

Meanwhile, Four Gazans killed by tank shell, one killed in strike on vehicle as Air Force bombs dozens of targets

Seven IDF soldiers were lightly wounded in various clashes in northern Gaza throughout the day. The troops were evacuated to hospitals in Israel but only one was hospitalized. Fourteen soldiers are currently hospitalized due to injuries sustained in the fighting. Three of them are seriously wounded, three moderately, and the rest lightly.

 

Meanwhile, the Air Force bombed more than 60 targets in Gaza Saturday, including rocket launchers, and Palestinian sources reported that at least five people were killed in the strikes.

 

Among the targets bombed were the rocket launchers used by terrorists to fire at Ashdod in the afternoon.

 

At 8 pm, Palestinian sources reported that four people, apparently from the same family, were killed by an IDF tank shell in Beit Lahiya. Two hours earlier sources reported the the Air Force had bombed a vehicle in Shati refugee camp in western Gaza City, killing one and injuring four.

 

Ground forces were also engaged in fire, and a Golani Brigade patrol killed a suicide bomber in the northern Strip. An explosive device was found on the terrorist's body.

 

Meanwhile, rocket barrages from Gaza continued throughout Saturday, as at least four rockets were fired towards Israel during the evening. Two Qassams landed in open areas in Sdot Negev and Shaar HaNegev Regional Councils, and two more landed in open spaces in the Eshkol Regional Council. No injuries or damage were reported.

 

Elsewhere, Hamas' Politburo Chief, Khaled Mashaal, rejected the possibility of stationing an international peacekeeping force in Gaza.

 

A statement published by Mashaal after a meeting with Palestinian leaders said: "We reject the presence of international forces or inspectors in the Gaza Strip."
