Report: Iran tests Bushehr reactor
Iran has begun a test run of the Bushehr nuclear reactor, Fars news agency reported on Wednesday. According to the report, one of the reactor's staff reported the test has begun, using simulated fuel rods, adding that if this phase is successful, the experiment will move on to the next stage.
The test was carried out in Bushehr in the presence of Iranian Atomic Energy Commission, Golam Reza Agazadeh and head of Russian Rosatom agency Sergei Kirenko, and is meant to test the activity of various systems installed in the plant. Bushehr is expected to begin full operation by the end of 2009. (Dudi Cohen)
