Report: Iranian police kill 4 drug smugglers

Iran's state television says police have killed four suspected drug smugglers near the Pakistani border and seized more than two tons of narcotics. Tuesday's report quotes provincial police chief, Gen. Gholam Ali Nekoui, as saying six suspected drug smugglers were injured in two shootouts with police that lasted for hours.
Nekoui did not specify when the clashes took place but said they occurred in Iran's Sistan-Baluchistan province, some 950 miles (1,500 kilometers) southeast of the capital Tehran. (AP)
