The Movement for Quality Government in Israel filed a High Court petition Thursday demanding the coalition agreement naming Yisrael Beiteinu Chairman Avigdor Lieberman Israel's new foreign minister and deputy prime minister, be rescinded.

The movement claimed that since Lieberman in under police investigation, "There is a clear problem in naming him to such high office in Israel impending government.

"Lieberman's appointment to the Foreign Ministry, while the State is investigating multiple cases against him, will have a direct bearing on his cooperation with the investigations," said the motion.

The petition also included the movement's requests that the court quash a clause in the coalition agreement assuring Yisrael Beiteinu the office of Homeland Security as well as representation on three Knesset committees.

"It is impossible for Lieberman to be allowed to name the minister in charge of the police – the same force tasked with investigating the grave suspicions against him."
