Paul Anka to perform in Israel
Fifties teen idol who sold over 100 million records over the years reportedly scheduled to hold concert in Israel this August
Singer Paul Anka, a popular teen idol in the 1950s, is scheduled to arrive in Israel this summer.
Sources in the music industry told Yedioth Ahronoth that Anka, 68, will hold at least one concert at Tel Aviv's Mann Auditorium in August.
The Canadian-born singer first became famous in the late 1950s and 1960s with hits songs like "Diana", "Lonely Boy", and "Put Your Head on My Shoulder". By the late 1960s he had sold over 100 million records.
Anka also wrote the words for the song "My Way", which became a huge Frank Sinatra hit and was performed by dozens of other artists, including Elvis Presley.
Meanwhile, negotiations between Israeli producers and pop icon Madonna have been ongoing in recent weeks and sources estimated that there are good chances that the singer will be coming to Israel as well this summer, possibly at the beginning of September.
