A terror attack was thwarted Wednesday when a 16-year old Palestinian girl who had planned to stab security forces guarding Ofer Prison was arrested just outside of the facility, located near Jerusalem.

The girl arrived at the prison Wednesday afternoon and claimed she had come to visit her brother, imprisoned in Ofer Prison. One of the wardens became suspicious and performed a security check.

During a physical search on the girl's person wardens discovered a 20 cm knife, which the Palestinian said she had planned to use in order to stab security personnel. She was taken in for questioning by police.

In recent weeks a number of Palestinians were arrested after knives were found in their possession by IDF soldiers manning checkpoints. Last week a Palestinian youth was arrested at Birzeit checkpoint in the West Bank when a 20 cm knife was found on his person.
