Romantic concert by torchlight

The ‘Pearls of Music’ institution directed by Elena Baidak produces concerts with a difference. They are held on Saturdays and Holidays in charming venues throughout the country. Concerts are held in churches, monasteries, caves and around Jerusalem, Haifa, Nazareth and Tel Aviv in romantic atmosphere with candlelight and monastery wine

On Saturday May 30, commencing 8.30 pm the ‘Pearls of Music’ will be offering a romantic concert by torchlight to be held in the Azrieli Amphitheater, third floor, Azrieli Center, Tel Aviv. The concert will have a real air of difference, in addition to being held in a little-known venue in Tel Aviv.

Titled ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ the program draws no reference to Felix Mendelssohn, Benjamin Britten or William Shakespeare, but will offer a well-balanced menu of music devoted to ‘Love’.

Included will be baroque works by Vivaldi and Handel and modern compositions from Gershwin, Bernstein, ABBA, Ella Fitzgerald and many others.

Top flight performers include counter-tenor Slava Kagan-Paley, an artist who has been honored in Europe, the United States and Japan and whom Time magazine referred to as a singer with a ‘diamond voice’.

Also performing will be talented soloist of the Israeli Opera Tel-Aviv-Yafo, Maria Yoffe, virtuoso pianist Igor Naimark and the Jerusalem Festival Orchestra.

‘Pearls of Music’ feature music covering a broad spectrum of styles

which include baroque, classical, liturgical, jazz, klezmer, folk from many countires, plus children’s plays.

Tickets for the concert on May 30 can be obtained from the ‘Pearls of Music’ office 9.00am to 4.00pm daily on 02 535 6954.
