Tel Aviv's Astor Hotel to get 16 more floors
Hotel located on corner of Frishman and Hayarkon Streets to include 161 rooms, to be built according to green construction principles
A new hotel will be built on the corner of Frishman and Hayarkon Streets in Tel Aviv instead of Astor Hotel, which currently has six floors and 60 rooms.
According to a plan approved by the Tel Aviv District Committee, the new hotel will include 22 floors and 161 rooms and will be built according to the principles of green construction. The project's architect is Leah Rubanenko.
The new hotel will be built on a plot which measures only 1,015 square meters (10,925 square feet) in size. According to the plan, the building rights in the area will total 6,300 square meters (67,812 square feet) in the main area above the entrance level, 700 square meters (7,535 square feet) of main areas under the entrance level, 710 square meters (7,642 square feet) for balconies, and 450 square meters (4,844 square feet) for a roofed swimming pool.
According to the Interior Ministry, the location of the new hotel will lead to the expansion of the passage on Frishman Street by five additional meters (15 feet) in addition to the existing pavement. The route, which will measure in total some 10 meters (32 feet) in length, will be used for planting trees and for the passage of pedestrians and bicycle riders.
A ministry official said that "the hotel matches the policy of the Tel Aviv Local Committee and the District Committee in regards to bolstering the tourism and hotel industry in the metropolis."
