Israel says shares Obama's hopes for peace

The Israeli government responded to US President Barack Obama's speech to Muslims on Thursday by saying it shared his hopes for peace between Israel and the Arab world.

"The Israeli government expresses its hope that President Obama's important speech in Cairo will indeed lead to a new era of reconciliation between the Arab and Muslim world and Israel," an official statement said. (Reuters)
