France vows solidarity with Britain on Iran staff

French President Nicolas Sarkozy says Britain can count on total solidarity from France in its attempts to pressure Iranian authorities to release British embassy staff in Tehran.

Britain wants the European Union to recall its ambassadors from Iran in protest at the detentions. Sarkozy told reporters in Stockholm "our solidarity with our English friends is total." (AP)
