2 new apartment buildings to be built in Petah Tikva
Nineteen-floor towers to be built by Olimpia company on city's Wolfson Street, to include about 156 housing units. Plot purchased by company for $3.25 million
The Beit Hapoel plot owned by the Civil Service Employees Union on Petah Tikva's Wolfson Street will be evacuated soon in order to be replaced by two 19-floor apartment buildings, which will include about 156 housing units each.
The project is being planned by the Olimpia company, which is managed by Oscar Katzenelson. The company purchased the plot spreading over 0.8 acres in a segmented deal in 2005-2006 for about $3.25 million.
The plot currently houses two old buildings with 24 housing units each which will be evacuated together with Beit Hapoel. The plan also allocates land for a public building for the neighborhood's needs, as well as an extensive gardening area between the two apartment buildings for public use.
The plan was approved by the Regional Committee for Planning and Construction at the Interior Ministry's Central District. The composition and area of the apartments has yet to be determined.
The committee wrote in its approval that it was "convinced that there is room in the city center for tall construction in high density in order to efficiently make use of the land and renovate the city's appearance."
