A senior official in the Iranian Interior Ministry said that the regime would not allow "any organization or person" to hold a protest or demonstration in Iran, according to a report in Iranian news agency Fars.
These statements were made in response to a request submitted Sunday by opposition leaders Mir Hossein Mousavi, Mohammad Khatami, and Mehdi Karroubi to hold a memorial ceremony on Thursday for those killed in the riots over the presidential elections marking the end of the traditional 40-day mourning period.
