Livni on Lieberman affair: PM needs to back up police

Opposition Leader Tzipi Livni said at the beginning of the Kadima faction meeting that though Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has the right to fight for his innocence that "there is one thing that is not within one's civil rights and that is to claim that Israel Police is motivated by political interests and personally and politically persecutes people."
"When the internal security minister hesitates or stays quiet, it is the role of the prime minister of Israel to provide the necessary support for the law enforcement authorities when they are being attacked by a minister in his cabinet," she said. (Amnon Meranda)
