Awareness to Twitter has grown dramatically - from 18% of surfers reporting they are familiar with the website in April to 54% last month.

Of the 5% with a Twitter account, about 40% are new users who have only registered last month. In April only 1% of surfers were on Twitter.

According to the survey, awareness to Twitter was higher among men compared to women, seculars compared to religious Israelis and academics compared to people with lower education.

No differences were reported in terms of age brackets.

TIM is a periodic survey conducted by TNS Teleseker among a representative sample of internet users aged 13 and over. The survey is held using the internet and aims to represent the entire web user population in Israel of 4.2 million people.
