Infrastructure works at Beersheba's new Advanced Technologies Park began this week by the city's Economic Corporation and the Ben Gurion University.

The works are estimated to cost NIS 15 million ($3.8 millio) and will include water, sewage, electricity, communication and road infrastructure development.

Construction on the first building at the park will begin this year, and the project's housing will be carried out by KUD, an American company that specializes in developing large-scale public-private projects.

The 91 acre park will house the IDF's Teleprocessing Branch as well as private companies that will be brought in by KUD.

Beersheba Mayor Rubik Danilovitch said that "the IDF's Teleprocessing Branch will be one of the park's major anchors; the army's decision to move it here shows it has faith in Beersheba and the Negev population."
