Israeli architect to head $20M project in India

Avner Yashar chosen to design 20-storey building in Andhra Pradesh capital of Hyderabad; construction to end by end of 2010

Israeli architect Avner Yashar, founder of Y.A. Yashar Architects was contacted to design a prestigious $20 million office building in India, Yedioth Ahronoth reported Wednesday.

 

The skyscraper, which will be set in Hyderabad, the capital and most populous city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, is expected to be the tallest construction in the area.

 

Yashar's proposal for the 20-storey, 452,000 sq.-foot project, was reportedly picked by Andhra Pradesh's prime minister personally, from a selection of four finalists. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2010.

 

A. Yashar Architects specializes in designing public buildings. Among its notable designs are the Tel Aviv Museum, Beth Hatefutsoth Museum and Tel Aviv University's Faculty of the Arts building, along with architect Dan Eitan.

 

The last decade has seen the firm design a series of high-tech and residential buildings, as well as head several projects in Eastern Europe.
