Hamas to release 100 prisoners in Ramadan gesture
The militant Hamas rulers of Gaza say they're releasing 55 prisoners from the rival Fatah movement as a gesture for the upcoming Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Hamas statement Tuesday said 50 other prisoners would also be freed. The Hamas Interior Ministry said the release would take place Wednesday. Hamas wrested control of Gaza from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement two years ago, setting off a wave of mutual arrests. (AP)
