Ecuadorian candidate Ivonne Baki withdrew his candidacy for the post of director-general of UNESCO, leaving only two candidates in the race, Egypt's Farouk Hosni and Bulgaria's Irina Bokova, the ambassador of Ecuador to UNESCO announced Monday.
"The Ecuadorian government has decided to withdraw the nomination of Ivonne to facilitate the process of selecting a new CEO," said Marcelo Vazquez. (AFP)
