An extra hour's sleep

Daylight saving time draws to end

After 184 days of daylight saving time Israel reverts back to standard time

Daylight saving time will be drawing to an end for this year early on Sunday. At 2 am, clocks will be moved back one hour, making it 1 am and giving us all an extra hour's sleep. This also means that the sun will set as early as 5 pm as of Sunday.

Daylight saving time was in effect for 184 days this year.

The law stipulates that at this time of the year Israel's clock should be set back by one hour, before Yom Kippur. Daylight saving time will resume on March 26, 2010 and will last until September 12, a total of 170 days.

The US and Europe will change back to standard time within approximately a month. In the US, daylight saving time lasts 238 days. Daylight saving time is also longer in European Union countries as well as in Russia, lasting from mid March until the end of October.
