MKs propose bill to regulate refugee status in Israel
Meretz Chairman Chaim Oron and other Knesset members proposed a bill that will regulate the status of refugees in Israel and include international conventions on the status of refugees on which Israel is a signee.
"This bill will allow citizens and residence of countries that are considered "enemy states", including refugees of the Darfur genocide which are not considered a risk to the State of Israel, to be absorbed as refugees in Israel and prevent deportation of those seeking asylum to places where they will most likely suffer from persecution," said MK Oron.
