Arabs strike to mark October 2000 riots

Schools, local authorities and businesses in the Arab sector across Israel are on strike Thursday, to mark the ninth anniversary of the outbreak of the October 2000 riots. The decision to strike was made by the Higher Arab Monitoring Committee.
Wednesday night protest marches were held in the hometowns of the Israeli-Arab youths that were killed during the 2000 riots. A central rally will be held in Arraba later in the day, with representatives from various embassy slated to attend. (Sharon Roffe – Ofir)
