Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi hosted some 100 IDF volunteers in his sukkah in the Kirya military base in Tel Aviv and called them "the pillar of fire before the camp."
The chief of staff said of the volunteers, "I am proud that these are the soldiers of the IDF and feel a great privilege to command an army that these are its soldiers. You are an example to the youth and the society as a whole." (Hanan Greenberg)
