Israel hotel occupancy among highest in world
STR Global data for August shows hotel occupancy rate in Israel stood at 72%, ranking sixth after Singapore, Japan, Australia, England and Canada

at the start of the year, Israel
has managed to recover from the economic crisis faster than most countries around the world.
August hotel occupancy rates in Israel were higher than in any other country in the world.
The data was published in a report by the American-British research institute STR Global, which is considered one of the leading research institutes in the hospitality business in the past 20 years.
According to data collected from around the world, the highest average occupancy rate in August was recorded in Singapore, at 76.1%. Japan following with 75.7%, England had 72.7% occupancy, Canada had 72.1% and Israel had 72% occupancy in August 2009.
The report also showed that the average hotel occupancy rate in the United States stood at 60.7%. Mexico had an average August occupancy rate of 52.7%, Argentina has 42% occupancy, and Brazil had a 64.4% occupancy rate.
The general occupancy rate in Australia in August stood at 73.1%; China had 56.6% and India 54.4% occupancy.
The average August hotel occupancy rate in Europe was 66.2%, with Germany having a 60.3% rate, Italy at 52.2%, Russia, 65.6% and 65.7% in Spain.
Israel maintains a very high ranking even among major cities around the world. While August occupancy in Tel Aviv was 80%, Washington had 65.6% occupancy, Buenos Aires had 41.8%, Geneva 56.7%, Rome 64.8%, Shanghai 49.6%, Sydney 78.4% and Bangkok a mere 56%.
