Mashaal: Abbas an illegal president, his term over

Hamas politburo chief Khaled Mashaal referred to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas as "an illegal president" during a speech he gave in Damascus. He further claimed that Abbas's term ended in January 2009.

Mashaal added that the Goldstone Report "was the straw that broke the camel's back" and that Hamas has avoided addressing the matter in an attempt to reconcile the Palestinian factions. (Ali Waked)
