IDF Central Command Chief Gadi Shamni signed administrative banishment orders on Monday against two residents of the West Bank settlement of Yitzhar.
The IDF reported that the two have been banished for six months from the West Bank after the IDF received information that they were involved in illegal violent activity. The move was made in light of the "tangible threat to the security and public order that the two present," the army said.
The Land of Israel Faithful Movement strongly condemned the banishment orders and called on the Israeli government to "stop making use of undemocratic measures that are redolent of dark eras."
Knesset Member Michael Ben-Ari (National Union) said, "This is a form of thought police. It is odd that these orders issued only against right-wing activists. We have yet to hear of orders being issued against leftists who throw stones at IDF soldiers in (the West Bank villages of) Bil'in and Naalin."
Right-wing activist Itamar Ben-Gvir added, "Hunting season against right-wing activists and the settlers has begun.
"It's amazing to see the hypocrisy of the leftists and champions of human rights, who ignore the fact that the government is issuing orders without a trial. I guess in Israel only terrorists have civil rights," he said.
