Poll: 58% traveled in Galilee in past 6 months
Galilee conference discusses, among other things, strengthening tourism in north of country. Survey prepared for conference reveals that majority of Galilee travelers in past year were men aged 18 to 24 with higher-than-average incomes

A survey conducted by the Negev and Galilee Development Authority for the Galilee conference held at Kfar Blum on Tuesday shows that 57.7% of the Israeli public visited the Galilee in the past six months.
According to the survey results, most of the Galilee visitors were men aged 18 to 24 with higher-than-average incomes. The survey revealed that 52.2% of men visited the Galilee in the past half a year, versus only 41.3% of women. Some 58% of the secular people who took part in the survey have visited the Galilee since last April in comparison to 55% of religious people, 32% of haredim, and 29% of traditionalists.
The poll, conducted by New Wave Research, surveyed 500 respondents from all age groups and sectors throughout the country.
"In the past year, the authority has taken action to promote a broad range of fields, such as small businesses in the tourism sector, industry, and settlement," said Negev and Galilee Development Authority General Director Moshe Davidovitz.
"The Galilee has huge tourism potential because of its geographical structure and it provides enjoyment both for couples and families coming to visit the resort sites, parks, nature reserves, walking paths, and bike paths."
The Galilee conference, held for the fourth consecutive year – was attended by heads of state, including President Shimon Peres,
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,
and Vice Prime Minister and Galilee and Negev Development Minister Silvan Shalom.
