Son throws Molotov at Jewish residents in Silwan
Mohammad Kak and Nasser Abissiyeh, residents of Jerusalem's Silwan neighborhood, accused of hurling Molotov cocktails at Jewish residence on Yom Kippur allegedly to avenge home sale made by Kak's father to Jews in 2003
Jerusalem District Prosecutor's Office submitted an indictment to the Jerusalem District Court on Monday against Mohammad Kak, 30, and Nasser Abissiyeh, 22, both residents of the east Jerusalem neighborhood Silwan, for allegedly throwing two Molotov cocktails at Jews during the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur.
According to the indictment, which was submitted by Attorney Shmuel Herbest, the motive behind the incident was the sale of the Kak family home to a group of Jews in 2003 by the Mohammad Kak's father. Kak reportedly was embittered towards his father for the sale and towards the residents of the house and decided to target them on Yom Kippur.
The indictment describes how Kak prepared two Molotov cocktails on the night of Yom Kippur and invited Abissiyeh to join him. The two made the cocktails themselves and hurled them at the house. They hit a nearby pile of garbage, lighting it on fire.
The indictment claims that the Molotov cocktails could have seriously injured or killed someone. The two are charged with manufacturing weapons and with arson.
The indictment also claimed that Kak taught Abissiyeh how to make another Molotov cocktail some 10 days later. In accordance with Kak's instructions, Abissiyeh prepared the Molotov cocktail, and the two threw it at the house. This time, the cocktail hit the ground and was set ablaze.
