Settlers detained after clash with Palestinians

Mutual stone-throwing reported as settlers, Palestinians clash in West Bank

Police forces held three settlers for questioning Saturday on suspicion of rioting and throwing stones during a clash with Palestinians in the West Bank.

Around 14:00 Saturday, a confrontation broke out between Palestinians protesting the expansion of the Bracha settlement and settlers at the site. During the clash, both sides hurled stones at each other.

An army force dispatched to the scene broke up the clash and declared the area a closed military zone. Three settlers who refused to leave the site were turned over to investigators.

Police officials were looking into the incident.

Palestinians elsewhere, at the Village of Kalil, said they were also attacked by settlers Saturday. However, there was no army confirmation for the report.

On Friday, nine protestors were reportedly hurt while security forces dispersed anti-fence protests in the West Bank. Security officials said they are aware of only one injury.
