The music of the 1960s appears to appeal to the Israeli public. In spite of the high prices – NIS 340-1,000 ($92-271) per ticket, almost all tickets for Paul Anka's November 19 concert in Tel Aviv have been sold out.

Following the audience's demand, Anka agreed to add another concert and will also perform in Tel Aviv's Nokia Arena on November 18.

Anka, 68, was born in Canada to parents of Lebanese descent and made his debut at US charts at the early age of 16. By the end of the 1960s he had sold more than 100 million records.

His greatest hits include "You Are My Destiny", "Lonely", "Puppy Love", "Put Your Head on My Shoulder" and "Diana".

Anka left his greatest impression on the world of music when he wrote the lyrics for "My Way", a minor French song, and gave them to Frank Sinatra, who turned the ballad into a heart-thumping anthem. The song has since been performed by hundreds of artists, including Elvis Presley.

Anka has not released any significant albums in recent years, focusing on cover songs, some for modern artists like The Killers. He recently made headlines when it was revealed that he would receive half of the songwriting royalties for Michael Jackson's new song, "This is It."

Anka said the song was originally recorded for his solo album and was eventually performed by a female Brazilian singer. The same song was re-recorded by Jackson before his death.

Anka is being brought to Israel by agent Shmuel Tzemach and his son Yoav. "We received many requests to add another show, from employees' committees as well," Shmuel Tzemach said. "Since Anka was available a day before the planned concert, we decided to do it."
