Syrian official: Israel invaded al-Aqsa to destroy mosque
The Syrian Foreign Ministry has condemned Israel's activities on the Temple Mount in recent days.
"We believe that Israeli forces' invasion of the al-Aqsa Mosque and the encircling of its worshippers are part of an Israeli plan to Judaize Jerusalem and destroy the mosque," a senior ministry official has been quoted as saying. The Syrians have also called on international elements to intervene and stop "Israel's criminal acts against Islam's holy sites." (Ali Waked and AFP)
