IDF chief in Berlin: We shall let no one control Israeli people's future
IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant-General Gabi Ashkenazi said during a memorial ceremony for Holocaust victims in platform 17 in a Berlin train station: "The cry of our Jewish brothers, who marched into train wagons beaten and humiliated, echoes to this very moment."
"It is a cry to the commitment of the State of Israel and my own, as the head of its army, to forever remember the horrendous atrocity and make sure that we should never belittle those who wish to harm us. We shall not entrust our safety in the hands of strangers and will let no one to control the future of the Israeli people, " Ashkenazi said.
