Deputy Prime Minister Silvan Shalom met with Egypt's ambassador to Israel, Yasser Reda, and told him Israel disapproved of Egyptian objection to the participation of Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman in a medical conference in its territory.
The ambassador told Shalom that the objection was due to Cairo's desire to hold the conference while promoting the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians. "Right now conditions are not ripe for such a conference. Maybe they will ripen when talks with the Palestinians begin," Reda said. (Roni Sofer)
