French-Jewish anthropologist Claude Levi-Strauss passed away at the age of 100. Levi-Strauss is considered one of the founders of modern anthropology and influenced generations of researchers. His academic autobiography, Tristes Tropiques, is considered one of the greatest books of the 20th century. (AFP)
