Mark Morris dance group returning to Israel

Renowned American choreographer returning to Israel with his troupe after 13 years away with combined program of favorite and pieces side by side

The dance troupe led by renowned American choreographer, Mark Morris, is returning to Israel after 13 away for a series of six performances in Tel Aviv's Opera House, starting December 29. Morris' group, which will enter its third decade next year, is considered one of the leading modern dance troupes in the world.

The troupe is known for its collaborations with well-known orchestras and musicians, including cellist Yo-Yo Ma, pianist Emanuel Ax, and tabla player Zakir Hussain.

The troupe's performances are accompanied with live music. The group's permanent ensemble will accompany its performances at the theatre arts stage in Tel Aviv.

The opening program includes the works "Visitation" to music by Beethoven, "All Fours" to music by Bartok, and "V" to music by Schumann. The second program being performed by the group in Israel will be performed to the music of Mozart and Grand Duo, the new musical piece by Lou Rison.

Mark Morris is considered one of the most prolific contemporary choreographers. Since the founding of the troupe in 1980, he created more than 120 works.

In 2001, Mark Morris' dance center in Brooklyn opened in which he holds activities for the community and coordinates dance programs for children.
