Egypt wants US guarantees before Israel, PA resume talks

Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit demanded the United States provides written guarantees before Israel and the Palestinian Authority resume peace talks.
"The guarantees are to specify that all settlement expansion will be halted or that a Palestinian state will be formed within the 1967 borders, including Jerusalem," he said, in a Cairo press conference with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. (AFP)
