AG: State prosecutor not subordinate to minister

None

Attorney General Menachem Mazuz rejected criticism against State Prosecutor Moshe Lador, following his objection to Justice Minister Yaakov Ne'eman's proposal to split the duties of the attorney general. "This statements point to a lack of understanding," said Mazuz.

"The state prosecutor is not subordinate to the minister," Mazuz added. "He was given authority and acts on behalf of the public, representing the State of Israel and the public at large. A man with such duties should make it known if he thinks the public interest is at jeopardy." (Aviad Glickman)
