Obama: Iraq poll law step toward US withdrawal

US President Barack Obama said on Sunday the approval of a long-delayed election law by Iraq's parliament would allow the polls to go ahead early next year and pave the way for the withdrawal of US forces.
The national vote, due to be held in January, is seen as a crucial test for Iraq, the world's 11th largest crude oil producer, as it emerges from the sectarian carnage unleashed by the US invasion in 2003. (Reuters)
