Lieberman in The Hague: Positive dynamics needed ahead of negotiations

Foreign minister meets with Dutch counterpart as part of visit to Holland, says one condition to advancing political process is cessation of incitement, international diplomatic intrigue

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman met with his Dutch counterpart Maxime Verhagen on Wednesday as part of his current visit to Holland. During the meeting Lieberman stated that one must create a positive dynamic as well as mutual trust between Israel and the Palestinians in order to jumpstart the political process.

The minister further detailed four important conditions for the process: Direct negotiations between the two parties, a Palestinian commitment to refrain from violence and terror, cessation of "international diplomatic intrigue" such as the Goldstone Report and a significant improvement in the economic and security state in the Palestinian Authority's West Bank.

Lieberman's meeting with Verhagen was held in the Dutch Foreign Ministry's official guest house.

The foreign minister arrived in The Hague on Tuesday as part of an official visit to Denmark and Holland. He started off his Wednesday appointments by meeting with representatives of the Christians for Israel community as well as with Jewish members of the Keren Hayesod – United Israel Appeal foundation.

Later on Wednesday Lieberman was scheduled to visit the Dutch parliament and travel to Amsterdam, where he will spend the night. He is due back in Israel on Thursday.

During his visit to Denmark the foreign minister met with his Danish counterpart Per Stig Moeller. During their meeting Lieberman noted that the Arab states contribute less than the rest of the world to improving the lives of Palestinians and to the normalization of relations between the Palestinians and Israel.
