Report: Sarkozy to present Assad with proposal for talks with Israel

France will present Syrian President Bashar Assad with "a proposal for the renewal of the peace process between Israel and Syria as an alternative to what Rabin promised," according to a report on al-Arabiyya television. Assad will arrive in France on Thursday.
In addition, the report claimed that Israel will declare its willingness to enter negotiations with Syria on the basis of the '67 borders. Assad will meet with French President Nicolas Sarkozy on Friday. (Roee Nahmias)
