Syrian president backs Lebanese counterpart

Syria's leader is supporting his Lebanese counterpart in efforts to achieve political stability in the region - the latest sign of improving ties between the neighbors.
President Bashar Assad's remarks came during talks on Thursday with visiting Lebanese President Michel Suleiman. It's Suleiman's second visit to Syria and it comes just days after Lebanon managed to form a unity government that includes Syrian-backed Hezbollah. (AP)
