Turkish parliament debates Kurd reconciliation

Turkish lawmakers will debate a government plan to reconcile with minority Kurds and end a quarter-century of conflict with Kurdish guerrillas.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan says he wants to give more rights and opportunities to Kurds who have complained about abuses and discrimination for decades. Political opponents accuse him of making too many concessions to Kurdish rebels and threatening Turkey's unity. (AP)
